Bird watching is one of the mildest activities that is gaining more and more supporters in recent years worldwide and has become very popular in Greece. Birds have always had a fascination with humans for the variety of ways they move, for the place they choose to live in, but above all for what they symbolize freedom. Combined, of course, with the fact that they are the easiest group to observe in the wild.
If you love the magical world of birds and if you are chasing exciting quests in new places, where new experiences and images are revealed, then the wetland of Aliki Aigio is an ornithological paradise for you and the reason for an excursion in the area of Aigialeia.
More than 235 migratory species have been observed here. Species such as the Ergetta garzetta, the Adrea purpurea, the Plegadis falcinellus, the Platalea leukorodia, the Phoenicopterus ruberus, the Philomachus pugnax, the Tringa glareola and the Larus melanocephalus.
The wetland is also visited in recent years by flamingos and swans and until they leave at the end of February for the breeding grounds, they offer a wonderful spectacle of rare beauty to the visitors.
