In the depths of Aigialeia, where its heart beats, the recreational waters of the Selinountas river, are offered for kayaking (some seasons of the year), while from the end of spring until autumn are ideal for crossing trekking ).
A fascinating, unpredictable and unruly river that hides a multitude of surprises in its 40 kilometers. Versatile, sometimes fierce to jump over obstacles, to pour furiously from small and large waterfalls and sometimes calm and serene to accompany you on your journey.
It originates from the mountain Erymanthos in the area of Vlasia to flow into the Corinthian (near the village of Valimitika – between Aigio and Diakofto), it travels many kilometers carving a path of wild beauty between the mountains Klokos and Barbas. The impressive combination of plane trees and running water, create a landscape that you are “thirsty” to discover.
The Selinountas River is one of the longest rivers in the northern Peloponnese and forms a gorge of 14 km along its route. The entrance to the gorge is from the village of Ano Mavriki, which is built on the edge of the mountain. There we meet a line of successive waterfalls that end in the riverbed low in the place Trano Lagadi.
